Welcome to HireKatPR.com, my online portfolio where you can find everything you need to know about hiring Kathryn C. Friedmann for a public relations related experience.
I am a current graduate student at Boston University majoring in Public Relations. My greatest asset is my creativity and I am committed to finding creative solutions for a wide spectrum of audiences, no matter what the challenge may be.
This is a sampling of my work at CMT.com (MTV Networks/Nashville) as an intern from May 2007-July 2007. During the summer of 2007, I worked on search engine optimization for CMT.com linking artist pages to their personal websites and finding creative ways to link CMT.com to other country related sites. I also wrote a wide variety of content including promos, blurbs, news in briefs, and the show page for Top 20 Countdown.

From January 2008-July 2008, I interned at the Greater Hartsville (SC) Chamber of Commerce that helped shape my decision to enter public relations. Here I was responsible for handling all of the communication pieces of the chamber including weekly newsletters, press releases, email marketing ads, designing brochures and programs for events, and organizing a survey for the Pee Dee Small Chamber Coalition.

Fall 2009, Writing for Media Professionals
The grand finale for this course was to write content for a website of our choice. Included is copy for a landing page, a product store, a blog entry, and a two minute video for the fictional Western American Emu Society.
This 2,000 word feature story on ovarian cancer patients who use filmmaking as a treatment process was also a major grade for this class.
Spring 2010, Crisis Communication and Reputation Management
This fifteen page assignment was one of two major grades in this course. The paper is a full analysis of the TVA coal ash spill crisis that devastated eastern Tennessee and remains the largest industrial spill in U.S. history.
Throughout the summer of 2010, I completed an internship at Public Strategy Group, a firm specializing in public affairs and grassroots campaigning. During my internship, I helped PSG's major client, Walmart, obtain new real estate projects and land use zoning issues throughout New England and New York. Using PSG's grassroots techniques, I wrote letters, petitions, information packets, radio scripts, made phone calls, researched town politics, and planned events according to Walmart's specific needs.
Click the front page to view a full version of the Summer 2010 Walmart New England CAN Newsletter. I wrote a majority of the copy, excluding real estate news. Note: this is an unofficial version.

Education I attended Coker College, located in Hartsville, SC, from August 2005-May 2009. In my four year career I had several major achievements including being a four year starter and scholarship winner for the women's soccer team, making both athletic and academic all-conference, being the editor of the Periscope (school newspaper), the president of Omicron Delta Kappa leadership society, and graduating Magna Cum Laude with a double major in Communication and English. I now have only one semester left until I have an M.S. in Public Relations from Boston University. My GPA is 3.54.
Areas of Interest I have specifically chosen not to have a concentration in my graduate studies of PR because of the uncertain economy, but I do have several interests. Being a natural athlete, I would love to do PR for sports, and being from Nashville, I would also love to practice in entertainment. From my work at the chamber, I have developed an interest in tourism and thanks to a class I took this spring, I would also like to work in crisis communication and crisis management.
Outside of School and Work I love anything sports and outdoors. I've played soccer since I was four and enjoy golfing, mountain biking, running, canoeing or kayaking, and trying anying new including sailing this summer. I've been diabetic for almost 13 years now and my favorite place in the whole world is the Tennessee Camp for Diabetic Children. I don't watch much TV, but I read a lot of books and watch a lot of movies, particularly action or comedy.
